"If I fight back I will be hurt, punched, stabbed, tortured, and killed." - this is simply not true - it has been blown way out of proportion.

Lets look at 909 random case files:
521 of these files resulted in a victim of unwanted sexual assault. These victims were totally compliant and did not put up any resistance. 388 of these files did not result in a victim of sexual assault.

Some of the escaped victim comments:
"I simply would not stay still."
"I did not give in - I fought for my life."
"I yelled and didn't stay still, I wouldn't cooperate, I struggled."
"I ran away the minute I felt it coming."
"When he yelled and started mistreating me, I just went crazy on him."
"I struggled and fought back with everything I had."
"I resisted and would not give in. I shut him out and fought back."

Some comments of the victims who did not escape:
"I pleaded with him."
"I cried."
"I was so scared I could hardly speak."
"It was as if he didn't hear me or seemed not to understand what I was saying."
"He totally ignored my pleas and kept telling me to shut up."

We have found that struggling, screaming, fighting, running, not giving in and going crazy have an actual impact on the escape rates of these women.

Here is a clue: Ever try to hold on to something or someone that won't stay still?...try it. Why does it take two full grown men to hold down a child taking a fit? It's quite simple- they won't stay still long enough.
